Focus on : Méandres 1

Focus on: Meanders 1

This 60 by 80 cm canvas is made with acrylic and varnished with resin.
I first painted a light background, with colors oscillating between pink and blue. Then, I drew meanders with tape. Finally, I repainted the canvas in a dark colored range, evoking a night sky, applied with a brush then with a sponge. The canvas is covered with resin, which gives shine to the whole.

The pattern created is revealed when I remove the tapes. The meander, widely used in ancient Greece , is a broken straight line making returns and constituting a frieze . It symbolizes infinity , eternal flow. Here, I chose the meander because it represents a path on which the viewer is invited to get lost. The meander pierces the night sky and offers the possibility of a new day.
