This canvas produced in 2019 is entirely painted in acrylic . The background, composed of the same colors , was created in two stages in order to create a split effect. I applied the colors in large strokes , then I evened it out with a sponge to finally apply a slightly blue wash. In the center, there are three circles , two red which surround a third circle with celestial patterns giving the impression of being sucked into the center of the canvas.
The central subject of the painting, the “cosmic eye”, invites the viewer , through its spiral effect, to immerse themselves in the work. The cosmic refers to nature , creation , the beauty of the universe as a tool for contemplation and questioning the world. In the same way, the sky, here nocturnal, symbolizes the infinity of possibilities, through observation.
It is therefore the eye of the spectator and its interaction with the canvas which gives it its meaning: the macrocosm and the microcosm are united in the work and in the gaze of the spectator.
