What differentiates art from all the other objects we can surround ourselves with is the emotional impact.
The image imprints a series of emotions on the mind because it comes to us directly, without a filter.
It marks the imagination and the psyche.
I don't give titles to my abstract works.
I don't add any labels during my openings.
I prefer to explain the story of my works myself to open a dialogue with the viewer and gather their impressions, emotions and thoughts.
The risk with a cartel: that the viewer only focuses on the text and forgets to look at the work.
The work is first addressed to the gaze and it is this which allows one to enter it.
When we acquire a work, it is for the aesthetic emotion it gives us.
This aesthetic emotion is the gateway to the mysteries of the canvas. By giving in to this emotion, we understand the meaning of the canvas.
The intellectual dimension is one of the multiple dimensions of art.
This is why I write comments on works on my site: the intellectualization of the work comes later, when curiosity becomes too great.
Also because we want to know what is going on in the artist's head, the how and why of creation.
The work bears the artist's gaze and discourse. An artist without discourse is like a mathematician who does not know how to do a calculation….
This is what differentiates art from decoration.
